What is libido enhancement?

Libido enhancement treatments are used to boost a person’s sexual desire and drive.* Men and women can both suffer from low libido, especially as they grow older. Aged women experience decreases in estrogen testosterone, while aged men experience decreases in testosterone. These hormones are essential components for a strong libido.

What causes hormonal changes in women?

Hormonal shifts can affect your desire for sex, and in women, menopause, pregnancy and breastfeeding all have a huge impact on hormone levels. Estrogen levels fall during a woman’s transition to menopause. During this period, you may feel less interested in sex and it might also be very painful. Some women suffer from vaginal atrophy due to menopause, and it can lead to vaginal dryness and other uncomfortable conditions.

Hormonal shifts can also occur during pregnancy, after pregnancy and during breastfeeding. On top of that, fatigue, changes in body image and the pressures of pregnancy and caring for your new baby can all alter your desire for sex. If you live in San Diego County and your libido is waning, Dr. Lawrence Eisenhauer uses bioidentical hormone pellet therapy for libido enhancement.*

What causes hormonal changes in men?

After the age of 30, men begin to experience a gradual decline in testosterone. In some cases, a decrease in sex drive will accompany that decline. A man’s normal total testosterone range is around 300 nanograms per deciliter (ng/dL). Low T, or low testosterone, can also be caused by an injury to the testicles, testicular cancer, chronic liver or kidney disease, type 2 diabetes, obesity and HIV/AIDS. This can result in increased risk of heart disease.

Low T can also impact couples who are trying to conceive, as it can also lead to erectile dysfunction and decreased sperm production. If you live in San Diego County and you are suffering from an unwanted decline in libido, Dr. Lawrence Eisenhauer uses bioidentical hormone pellet therapy for libido enhancement.*

What is bioidentical hormone pellet therapy?

Bioidentical hormone pellet therapy is a plant-based treatment that does not rely on synthetic hormones or artificial ingredients. Pellets are tiny compounds (smaller than a Tic Tac) that contain testosterone or estrogen (depending on which hormone a patient needs). They are inserted into the body’s fat, under the patient’s skin (usually on the upper part of the buttocks). The pellets are then slowly metabolized over the course of 3-4 months and release bioidentical hormones in the same manner that the body secretes natural hormones.* These treatments are an effective way to boost hormone levels and enhance libido.* Additionally, a positive side effect is a reduction in migraine headaches.*

I love Dr. E and Nurse Kristi, I was so grateful to have them for my prenatal care during my first pregnancy, I was able to get same day appointments with no problem whenever anything out of the ordinary came up and always felt so comfortable in the office! They really knew me as a patient and appointments were so easy! Dr. E was also very helpful budget wise when it came to managing what medical care was necessary or not.*
