Menopause Therapy

Menopause therapy is a treatment used to relieve the symptoms associated with menopause.

What is menopause therapy?

Menopause therapy is a treatment used to relieve the symptoms associated with menopause.* Women who experience hot flashes, vaginal atrophy symptoms (itching, burning, intercourse pain, frequent bladder infections) and sleep disturbances can all benefit from this therapy.* It can also be used in the prevention of osteoporosis.*

The two types of hormone therapy are: ET (estrogen only) and EPT (estrogen plus progesterone). If your uterus was removed due to a hysterectomy, ET will be the prescribed course of action. Progestogen (a class of steroid hormone) is added with EPT to protect women with a uterus against uterine cancer.* In addition, Dr. Lawrence Eisenhauer is one of the few gynecologists in Southern California who is an expert in the addition of bioidentical testosterone via injectable pellets for the treatment of low libido, mental fog and a decreased sense of vitality.

How is this hormone therapy used?

Menopausal hormone therapy can involve the use of bioidentical hormone pellets (which Dr. Eisenhauer uses), oral tablets, patches, gels, sprays or injections in order to circulate these products throughout the bloodstream.* Other products, such as creams, rings or tablets can used more specifically and localized to a particular area of the body. Regardless of the approach, these products work to treat menopausal symptoms.*

What are the benefits and risks?

Hundreds of clinical studies have shown menopausal hormone therapy to be very effective, and it can lead to improved sexual health, sleep and overall quality of life.* Hormone therapy isn’t without its risks, however. Low doses for shorter periods of time are recommended in order to minimize the health risks. An OB/GYN, like Dr. Eisenhauer, can help patients weigh the potential risks and benefits.

Bioidentical treatment of menopausal symptoms

Dr. Eisenhauer utilizes bioidentical hormone pellet therapy to increase the estrogen levels of his patients.* Bioidentical pellets are tiny compounds (smaller than a Tic Tac) that contain estrogen. They are inserted into the body’s fat, under the patient’s skin (usually on the upper part of the buttocks). The pellets are then slowly metabolized over the course of 3-4 months and they release bioidentical hormones in the same manner that your body secretes natural estrogen.* The results will ease or eliminate the severity of your menopausal symptoms.*

I've been going to Dr. Eisenhauer for about 6 years now and I could be happier. He was my mom's doctor first and he was the one who delivered me and my twin sister! I can't imagine going to any other doctor. Also, Kristi is awesome! :)*
